Currently, the New Mercy Project is bringing awareness to Haiti’s Grace International, Inc.

For the past 30 years, Grace International has been impacting lives through the oversight and management of 270 churches, 65 schools, 3 orphanages, as well as a medical clinic, a hospital, a home for elderly widows. Within these programs and facilities, Grace International also operates a feeding program and various learning centers.

Grace International was founded by Bishop Joel and wife Doris Jeune, who oversee and lead the organization. The base of Grace International’s work in Haiti is Grace Village, located in the county of Carrefour. After the earthquake, over 25,000 people sought refuge at Grace Village, turning it into the second largest refugee camp in Port au Prince. Grace International has worked to resettle many of the people living in this camp, and create small communities that are models of holistic, sustainable and industrious living.

Last year, we visited Grace International, where we had the amazing opportunity to volunteer for their children’s feeding program.

That day, children came in overwhelming numbers. Mothers were pushing their babies through the gate and into our arms, children with bowls bigger than their bodies struggled to get in, and at the end of the day, out of the 2,000 children and toddlers that made their way to the gates of the kitchen that day, only 700 were fed.

Unfortunately, due to the limited donations and funds invested in the program, food ran out and we had to close the gates on the faces of the hundreds of children that were left hungry.

Nothing about that situation was right and something inside of us refused to accept that this had to be the way things were. We have witnessed, first-hand, the kind of difference that Grace International has strived to make in the lives of these children, which is why the New Mercy Project has partnered with this organization to bring awareness and funds back into the feeding program.

At the end of the day, there is a lot of work that still needs to be done. Thanks to donors, many of the children that were once desperately trying to get a bowl of food are now being sponsored in Grace International’s education program, where they are also ensured a meal every day. But during the past several months, the limited funding that came regularly into their feeding programs has been stopped as donors moved on to assist other causes.

One meal a week has turned into none for the kids that remain un-sponsored.

However, through our donations and sponsorships, starvation does not have to be an issue for these children.

$1 can provide a child 3 solid meals in one day. Our goal is to make sure that not a single child in Grace Village has to go a single day without a meal.

We encourage you to partner up with Grace International by clicking on the DONATE button to the right and sending a few dollars to help get the feeding program back up and running. With your help, the children will receive immediate aid and ultimate hope for their future.

Every month, the New Mercy Project will send Grace International a check with 100% of the donations made by you. Your donations are tax-deductible, and will work to make an incredible difference in the lives on these children.
